In the mid-1970s, two unknown Cincinnati writers convince NBC-TV to gamble on a radical idea: a weekly series where the same two stars headline a completely different genre every episode.
“NBC Presents Hank & Jay” becomes an instant hit. Audiences tune in for the anything-can-happen format and the dangerous chemistry between its creator-stars, who refuse to play it safe.
But success comes with a price.
Network executives push for control. Sponsors demand something safer. And as the show grows bigger, the partnership at its center begins to fracture — pulled apart by ambition, ego, and two very different visions of the future.
